One of the best way of learning English is to practice. And if you are learning English in Hawaii, there’s a wide range of activities on offer that will enable students to do just that!
Global Village Hawaii strongly believes that offering a wide range of fun, educational and cultural activities aligned with each student’s needs is a major component in the student having an overall satisfying and enjoyable experience in beautiful Hawaii. What one student considers a perfect activity may not necessarily be the case for another student.
To ensure we accommodate the best possible range of activities based on students’ particular needs and requests, on their first day of school, we ask for information regarding what they want to do in Hawaii. Information gathered from these interviews help create a monthly activities calendar that coincides with cultural festivals & events as well as volunteer opportunities in Hawaii.
Organizing activities for the students is important because it allows students to avoid the hassles of planning an activity, especially since English is a foreign language to them. Students can shift their focus solely in the classroom and allow the school’s Activities Coordinator to do what he does best, which is to ensure all the logistics and details are planned perfectly prior to the activity so that students can leave the activity with memories that last a lifetime.
Global Village Hawaii offers unique activities to students from around the world who wish to explore paradise – surfing, neighbor island trips, skydiving, museums, hiking, ocean kayaking, sailing, beach barbeques, visiting beautiful beaches throughout the islands, as well as cultural experiences such as hula and ukulele lessons. While on activities, students also get to practice their English with other students from around the world as well as locals in a relaxed setting outside the classroom.
Beach barbeques, skydiving, and neighbor island trips seem to be very popular activities amongst the students here at Global Village Hawaii. Beach barbeques are an affordable and fun way to spend time with fellow students and experience local-style barbeque at a beach park. Skydiving is an unforgettable experience for the thrill-seeker in everyone, from age 18 to 78 (Yes, we had a 78 year old student skydive!) and reveals breath-taking views over the island of Oahu. Global Village Hawaii offers students a discounted price, and some students even go more than once!
Global Village Hawaii students have the unique opportunity to tour some of Oahu’s neighbor islands: Maui, Kauai, and Big Island. Each island offers distinctive experiences – waterfalls, volcanic lava flows, boat and snorkeling adventures, breathtaking mountaintop sunsets/sunrises, whale watching cruises, river kayaking, hiking beautiful coastlines, and much more. With the Activities Coordinator serving as the guide and driver, students can enjoy all that the islands have to offer.
The Activities Program at Global Village Hawaii is committed to facilitating activities for students to enhance their English language skills through exposure to various aspects of the host culture that are fun, educational, safe, and economical. Come and create your own lasting memory of beautiful Hawaii by joining one of Global Village Hawaii’s student activities!
