Even people familiar with the concept of language study abroad can still assume that language schools are only for high school and college students. But that’s not the case, as our experience shows.
It’s true that learning a language abroad is very appealing to younger generations (18 to 25 years old), but at our Spanish school in Malaga, the average student age is 27, and you’re as likely to meet a business executive as a student. You’ll also encounter diplomats, teachers, and retired people: we recently welcomed a 91 year old who had a wonderful time!
While individual tuition is particularly efficient and suitable for diplomats and top executives, language learners often want to meet like-minded people from all over the world and join group courses. Intensive Courses suit people of any age wanting to improve their general Spanish skills.
We also run some specialised courses:
Master Class is a 2-week programme of practical Spanish offered in Spring, early summer and Autumn. Lessons are combined with a programme of cultural and social activities including cookery lessons, museum and gallery visits, and walking in the hills. We normally recommend it to retired people who want enough Spanish for everyday situations on holiday, or who are in or planning retirement in a Spanish-speaking country.
Spanish and Cookery is a combination of a standard Spanish Course with cookery lessons, talks and visits related to gastronomy and wines. It suits bon-viveurs and cooking enthusiasts interested in recipes from the Andalucian variant of the Mediterranean diet.
Spanish and Dance combines a standard Spanish Course with Flamenco or Salsa lessons in Malaca Instituto’s own dance studio: perfect for fitness and dance enthusiasts!
Our special courses for the young include University Entrance (Selectividad), one of the few access routes into Spanish university for overseas students in Spain, and a Summer Course for young adults programmed specially for the 16-20 year age group.
Bob Burger is Marketing Director with Spanish language school Malaca Instituto. The school is located in Malaga, Andalucia, on the Mediterranean coast of southern Spain.
