Improve your English skills in an Australian company

Over the past 11 years, Langports has welcomed more than 22,000 students from 70 nationalities, and they all had one thing in common: the desire to improve their English skills for work, study or travel purposes. However, students are often looking for more than just English classes, they are looking for the opportunity to practise their English in real life situations.

Undertaking an internship is an excellent way for students to improve their English in a working environment, gain confidence and consolidate their English learning.

That is why, last year, Langports launched its English + Internship program. Since then, more than 30 students from Europe, South America and Asia have received work placements in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney, in areas such as:

  • Tourism & Hospitality
  • Marketing, Communications and Online marketing
  • Event management
  • Logistics
  • Human Resources
  • Education
  • Finance
  • Graphic Design, Web Design & IT
  • Sports & Leisure

Conditions to work in Australia

To join this program, students must hold a visa allowing them to work in Australia and have an intermediate level of English. With the English + Internship program, students gain real skills to use in their job search process, develop confidence working in English in a business or customer service environment, and increase their chances to be offered a job, either in Australia or back in their home country.

Success stories

For example, we recently placed one of our French students in a Marketing & Communications position for 6 weeks on the Gold Coast. Thanks to the reference letter she received from her internship supervisor and her experience in Australia, she secured a job in Brisbane in Event Management.

Asami, from Japan, recently completed an 8 week internship with a boat cruise company  and was then offered a paid part-time job for 2 weeks by the same employer.

This video shows Delphine from France, who did an internship at the Miami Pool Complex in February 2014.

Even though it is not guaranteed that students will be hired at the end of their internship, it is a valuable experience where students learn about the Australian business culture, develop their English skills and get a very useful reference letter!
